Training

New Leaders must fill out a Boy Scout Adult Application. The entire application must be filled out (including Background Check Authorization, all questions on right edge of application include THREE character references, and sign at bottom left). Adult must then complete Online Youth Protection (see 1. below). After completed, the application must be signed by the Committee Chairman AND the Charter Representative. Then the application and a copy of the Youth Protection certificate of completion is then turned into the Gamehaven Scout Office. It will get additional signatures and then once approved, the Charter Org, Unit (Pack(, and Applicant copy will be returned to the pack. The leader will then receive their ID card in the mail.

Pack Policies

Scout Credits

  • Each scout has a scout credit account. Credits are earned as a percentage of popcorn sales or other fundraisers.
  • Scout credits can be used to pay any scout fees (camps, books, etc), but can NOT be exchanged for cash.
  • If a scout quits, his credits may be absorbed at re-chartering. If the scout returns within one year, the credits can be reinstated.

Scholarships

  • No scout refused from Cub Scouts due to money: Scholarship Application
  • Scholarships: Uniform scholarships (return if drop out within 1 year) - See scholarship application
  • Scholarships: Participate in Pack fundraisers - See scholarship application

Leadership

  • Every den must have 2 leaders (2 adults must be present at all scout meetings)
  • Leader Uniform/Camp Fees - See Training section above
  • All leaders are expected to attend the monthly committee meetings. If a leader is unable to attend a meeting, please attempt to get a parent to attend representing the den.

Scouts Dropping Out

  • If a scout quits, and then rejoins after his registration has expired (January 31), he must pay registration fee (deduct registration from credits or collect)
  • When a scout stops attending den meeting for an extended period of time, it is recommended that their den leader contact them to determine if it is just temporary, or if they are dropping out completely. The Boy Scouts will request the reason for scouts dropping at re-charter time (January) as well. The following can be used as a template to contact the parent:

JOE SMITH hasn't been at any Cub Scout meetings for awhile. I sent email and called about our last den meeting, but did not hear anything back. Does that mean JOE is no longer interested in being in Cub Scouts? We hate to see him leave, but we understand if that is the case.

If he is dropping out, I am also interested in the reason(s):

Taking a break for a while and may rejoin later
Lost interest (den meeting not fun, etc...)
Other interests with higher priority (sports, etc...)
Frustrated with den (disorganized den meetings, boring, conflicts with leaders, etc...)
Frustrated with pack (disorganized pack events, conflicts with leadership, bad communication, etc...)
Joining different scouting organization in another area
Required too much time from family

Please let me know specifically what item(s) above (or others) have contributed to leaving scouts.
I would really appreciate a response to help us improve the Cub Scout pack!

REPLY WILL BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL (so feel free to be specific)

If you would rather reply to the Cubmaster (CUBMASTER NAME) instead, his email is CUBMASTER_EMAIL

Thanks,
DEN LEADER
